As a UX/UI designer, it is easy to fall into the trap of the below common mistakes. Regardless of how hard you work, these mistakes can ruin your design and become a bad habit for future designs. As a designer, make sure to avoid making the following common mistakes.
Avoid over-designing your work. Designers often complicate the UI with unnecessary features. By designing outside of the initial scope, you end up interfering with the original UX work instead of adding any value.
Additionally, failing to properly organize your files and products will make you unprepared for handoff and can largely hinder your workflow. It is important to remember that files need to be accessible to others, not just you. Try organizing your work by properly names your files and using simple folder structures.
Another mistake designers often make it forgetting to test your designs beyond the original mockup. It is important to constantly test and iterate until your product is flexible, scalable, and consistent. Moreover, recreating patterns is important maintain a seamless flow and minimize cognitive overload.
Lastly, be sure to never overlook the importance of accessibility. Failing to design for disabilities can lead to a faulty UI design that affects all users. Be sure to keep the accessibility practices in mind such as contrast, font size, and color when designing your product.
