Design Challenge: To Do List

As most people can relate, to do lists are a big part of our everyday lives. Whether or not you keep a mental list, or write a few things down on scraps of papers, or even on the inside of your palm, we’re always trying to keep track of what needs to get done. Without writing things down, we might forget important events or tasks and just lose track of our every day lives. This becomes more and more important as you age and take on more and more responsibilities. Work, school, kids, family obligations- it can all seem like too much happening all at once. But when you create a comprehensive to do list, you realize that it is all manageable (for the most part), and maybe you can breathe again.
For this week’s design challenge, I created a series of screens that would be used on an app that focuses on organizing every day lives and keeps track of your to dos. Having an app to keep track of this information is extremely beneficial. Diaries, notebooks, scraps of paper can all be lost or misplaced. It can become messy and illegible. When you have everything you need organized for you on an app, maintained in your phone (which, of course, you never leave home without), you can feel relief knowing that you are doing what needs to get done.

The below screens show a flow, starting with viewing your calendar at a months glance, showing the events of that month. The next screen keeps the same view but zeros in on a specific day, listing the events of that day. The following screen indicates the to do list of that day, which is different from the screen before which only shows the events of that day. The to do list shows everything the user needs to do that day and gives her the ability to either cross out completed to dos or delete them entirely, which is showcased in the next screen. The last screen shows what it looks like when the user selects the blue plus sign to add a new task. Please see the below screens for reference.
