In order to be a successful UX Designer, it is important to not only be aware of these skills but practice them. Being able to create beautiful designs is one thing, however becoming a successful designer is another.
Learn to Organize
As a designer, you might end up working on multiple projects at once. You need strong organization skills to manage all the projects and tasks.
Learn Every Day
Successful people learn every single day. They read, listen to podcasts, or simply learn from the mistakes they made. Consider listening to a podcast on your way to work or during your lunch break. Learning new things will not only help improve your skills but keep you informed of the ever changing world of design.
Learn to Listen
It might sound simple, but we are so used to talking all the time. As a designer you are doing a service to others, so listen.
Put Things First
When working on let’s say three projects at once, you need to prioritize which one has the tightest deadline and work on it with the highest priority. Consider dividing your to-do’s into these four categories: Important and immediate, Important but not immediate, not important but immediate, and not important and not immediate. This will help you organize what work needs to get done first and what can wait a bit.
Be Proactive
The client launched the app and it got terrible reviews? Its not the user’s fault. Its your responsibility as the designer to make products usable. Don’t blame others.
Understand the Value
Understand the value you provide. Your design is not just some shapes and letters. It lets your clients build and grow businesses to serve many people.
Be Your Worst Critic
Lastly, before presently your work to the client, review it yourself. Check if it meets your own standards. Ask yourself, if you were the client, would you accept it?
